    How we work

    1. 01

      Inspection

We check each specimen: height, species, crown condition and early signs of red palm weevil. The plan comes from that, not from a per-unit price guessed at a distance.

    2. 02

      Quote

Fixed price per specimen, with a discount for grouping several palms into one visit: much of the cost is travel and rigging the height equipment.

    3. 03

      Scheduling

We work between November and February wherever possible. Pruning in summer leaves fresh wounds whose scent draws the weevil in.

    4. 04

      Pruning

Work at height with harness or platform, removing only dead fronds. Over-cutting — the so-called pineapple cut — weakens the palm and leaves it more vulnerable.

    5. 05

      Treatment and removal

Preventive application against the red palm weevil and transfer of waste to an authorised handler, which for palm material is no minor formality: it is how the pest spreads.

Frequently asked questions about palm tree pruning in Ibiza

When is the best time to prune palm trees in Ibiza?+

Generally between November and February, avoiding the months when the red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) is most active. Pruning in summer leaves fresh wounds that attract the pest.

How much does palm tree pruning cost in Ibiza?+

It depends on height and species. A Washingtonia or Phoenix canariensis palm 4-8 m tall is pruned from €80-150 per unit. We offer discounts for multiple units and include waste removal and optional preventive treatment.

Do you treat the red palm weevil?+

Yes. We apply endotherapy (trunk injection) and foliar treatments following the phytosanitary regulations of the Conselleria d'Agricultura de Balears. We also install pheromone traps in gardens with multiple palms.

    Which species do you prune?+

Phoenix canariensis (Canary palm), Phoenix dactylifera (date palm), Washingtonia robusta and filifera, Chamaerops humilis (dwarf palm) and other species found in Ibiza.

    Do you remove the waste?+

Yes, we fully manage removal and recycling of plant waste through an authorised waste manager in Eivissa.

How often should a palm be pruned?+

Once a year is enough in most cases, and can be spaced further apart on young or slow-growing specimens. Over-pruning is a frequent mistake: every green frond feeds the palm, so removing ones that are still alive to make it look tidier weakens it and leaves it more exposed to the weevil.

Do you have insurance for work at height?+

Yes. We carry public liability insurance, professional climbing equipment, harnesses and an elevated platform when needed. All operators are trained in vertical work.

Can an already-infested palm be saved?+

It depends how far it has gone. If the crown or apical bud is still sound, treatment has a good chance. Once the larvae have destroyed that central bud the palm cannot produce new fronds and no treatment will recover it, which is why early diagnosis decides the outcome.
